Set to the music of bird flight, sight, and song, these poems, in the form of fragmented ancient text, tell a story of loss and the journey toward love, and acceptance. The text, accented by silence (white space), allows for an intimacy akin to pillow talk. The poems are raw, seeped in nature imagery, and deeply devotional. They are composed of the intricate tenors of devastation and faith, and the fragile harmonies between them.

BIO:
Karla Van Vliet’s volumes of poetry include From the Book of Remembrance and The River From My Mouth. She is an Edna St. Vincent Millay Poetry Prize finalist, and a two-time Pushcart and Best of the Net nominee. Her poems have appeared in Acumen,Poet Lore, The Tishman Review, Green Mountains Review, and Crannog Magazine, among others. Karla is a co-founder and editor of deLuge Journal. She is an Integrative Dreamwork analyst, artist and administrator for the New England Young Writers’ Conference at Bread Loaf, Middlebury College.
