Exploring the world, one voice at a time.
haiku and senryu by Ben Moeller-Gaa
calligraphy by JS Graustein
142 pages, 5×7 paperback
In this collection of haiku & senryu presented in the Carolingian hand of JS Graustein, Ben Moeller-Gaa explores the unguarded space between a moment’s initiation and its resolution through evocative word choice, masterful turns, and a touch of humor. Whether his subjects are external or internal, wild or domestic, he shows us perspectives that never disappoint.
BIOS:
Ben Moeller-Gaa is the author of three haiku chapbooks, Fiddle in the Floorboards (Yavanika Press 2018), the Pushcart nominated Wasp Shadows (Folded Word 2014), and Blowing on a Hot Soup Spoon (poor metaphor 2014). His haiku have appeared in over 50 journals and over 30 anthologies worldwide. He is a graduate of the Knox College Creative Writing program, works for MilliporeSigma, and can be seen in Wicked Pixel feature films. He currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife Jessica and their rascal of a cat Anastasia.
JS Graustein has been playing with letterforms since she could hold a crayon. Now a grown up (of sorts), she is the typographer, book designer, and calligrapher for Folded Word. She collaborated with NEA Fellow William O’Daly to co-write and photograph Water Ways, a poetic exploration of the Granite State’s blue spaces. Ecologist by training, poet by practice, and publisher by accident – she plies her trades amongst the trees in Meredith, New Hampshire.
