Exploring the world, one voice at a time.
When I first joined Folded Word in the spring of 2009 as Managing Editor, I never dreamed that a mere two years later I would have overseen the production of multiple books and chapbooks, earned a Literary Publishing Certificate, and participated in a live radio interview. But I have. Which is amazing. But it also means that some back-office changes are due.
There’s a new hatchling in the Heron nest: three poems by Julie L Corbett under the collective title “Colours of Honey.” Grab it now in pdf or mp3.
Rose Auslander (our Poetry Editor) was in San Francisco on a business trip for her day job at the beginning of this week, so I decided to make the 2ish hour trek down to sneak in some lunch at the airport before she flew home. What a blast to have an editorial meeting in person, discussing edits and plans for our forthcoming chapbooks and books!
It’s official. Folded Word and Jessie Carty have their first award winning book. Over the weekend, Paper House won the Northern California Publishers & Authors’ 2011 Best Poetry Book Award!
It’s been a crazy April around here. Not only were we hatching a Heron and proofing FREIGHT, we typeset two chapbooks and edited our first travel narrative. And yet our queue of titles waiting to be produced is STILL staggeringly long. So in an effort to streamline updates from our globally-diverse crew, we’ve created two new blogs instead of building vast quantities of webpages.
To anyone who’s received a bounced email sent to one of our @foldedword.com addresses, we are aware of the situation and are working to resolve it. If you have an urgent issue, please call +1 916.624.5088 and leave a message. We’ll get back to you ASAP. e-mail and website issues should be resolved by Easter Monday.
We couldn’t resist — we are extending our unFold celebration to include poems this week by Linda Leedy Schneider and Howie Good. Keep an eye out 🙂
Just a couple quick announcements:
1. Jessie Carty’s Paper House was nominated for a SIBA Award by Barnhills (a Southern bookseller).
2. Folded’s application to publish iBooks was accepted, so be looking for enhanced versions of our e-books by the end of spring.
