Alan S. Bridges began writing haiku in 2008 after meeting John Stevenson, the editor of The Heron’s Nest, on a cross-country train trip. Alan was voted Poet of the Year by the readers of The Heron’s Nest in 2016 and again in 2017.


tanka:

each autumn
this dead willow tree
sways with life,
pale limbs iridescent
with throngs of grackles
