I wonder what you see…

#WonderFold is a monthly feature that includes a prompt-based writing challenge one month, followed by the publication of a winning response the next month.

INVITATION: All art grows out of paying attention: in sight, sound, scent, taste & touch. You are invited to craft a written response (poetry or prose, 50 words or less) to the image and scene below:

bug on tiger lily

SCENE: A slight breeze and the bloom of the tiger lily sways. Upon closer inspection, a bug the size of a fingernail comes into view. At times it is in the minuscule that beauty is profoundly captured. The effect of the color wheel in nature, spinning about, invites one to join a remarkable ride. The rise and fall of the cicadas and occasional landing of the wood duck in the marsh make for a play list worth putting on repeat. In the distance, around the bend…

RESPONSE:  Combining the sensory information in the scene/photos above with your own experience/imagination, write a short poem or paragraph in response. JS Graustein (Editor in Chief) will select one response to be highlighted on the blog and its author will receive a free chapbook (choice from stock on-hand). Enter your poem/paragraph in the form below no later than 21:00 Eastern on 9 August 2017. The winning response will be announced/posted  15 September 2017, and its author sent a $5 PayPal gift card.
